Hello everyone. I've been an Audi TT owner for the past two years and I love the car. I have someone interested in purchasing my 2001 TT and am looking to upgrade to a 2008 TT but I just recently stumbled upon this A5 and it interests me, even though I must say I like the design of the TT better. What interests me about the A5 is that it looks like it has a usable back seat. Can an adult really fit [comfortably] into the back seat of an A5 or is just just as much of a joke as the TT? The only thing I can see is that there would be a bit more headroom. The dimensions are not that much larger than that of the new TT from what I see. I don't mind not being able to haul passengers around (hell, gives me an excuse not to take my car when me and my friends go out partying) but It would be nice at time being the driver with the nice car and hauling all my friends around.

So, back seat...useable or not? That's really the only thing turning me on to this car vs. the TT. I guess I'll just have to go look at both of them in person but that's hard to do when I live so far away from a dealership.

More usable than a TT ,but still tight.  I guess it depends how far you are going to go.

A buddy of mine test drove an A5 the other day and I went along for the ride.  Since the salesman insisted on coming along on the ride, I rode in the back.  I'm 6'1" and it wasn't bad back there.  I wouldn't want to be back there for a cross country road trip though!

Funny, I had the opposite experience, but with my buddy stuffed into the back by the salesman. He's admittedly quite tall (6'-5"), but it was comical as to how he had to completely lean sideways to fit. Sitting up wasn't just tight, it was impossible. It's very low back there, but it was otherwise pretty wide. Front to back is nothing special - adequate if you don't have people in the front who are over 6'. I think it all depends on the likely size of your passengers. If theyr'e average size, you'll get by, but it's not good for anyone over 6'. It's definitely bigger than a TT.  It's an interesting comparison with a 1 series. They have more headroom, but are narrower. Front to back they are about the same.
