ok... you look like the biggest noob idiot ever....... You are telling me to leave the ESP control on since i don't know much... well you should wake up because you are in an audi and there is ZERO CHANGE FROM IT ON OR OFF. The car has a manual override that notices situations aka it is a worthless tool on the car. Ha... maybe you should just stay out of situations you know jack about. That would be why you drove like a pussy in your moms car and now think your hot in your new one?

P.S. Maybe you should spend that extra money you spend on tints, rims, ect on a driving class nub.

Leave it on - You never know when some idiot in a mustang is going to lunch his motor and you'll need the extra control to get thru his oil.

haha, that was meant for me, wasn't it?! haha, lol.

To be honest I didn't write that with you in mind.
Sorry -- It looks like I missed an excellent opportunity.
I'll try harder next time.

Esp is there to protect you, leave on for daily driving. If you turn it off make sure to get the feel of the car and it limits. My BMW changes quite a bit when I turn it off, but maybe this has something to do with drive by wire and RWD

If you believe that there is no difference whether the ESP is on or off, why do you care if it is turned on or off?

By the way, in the 05 the car cannot override any part of the system unless you touch the brakes.  Even touching the brakes only allows the car to override a small part of the system.  If I turn the system off, I can get my 4.2 to spin all 4 tires and start sliding slideways without the system turning itself on.  So at least in the 05 your assertion that turning the system off makes a "zero change" is clearly wrong.

1st of all congrats on the new ride, you will love it!

The answer that I have found from on/off on snow, rain, dirt roads, road sand, etc is leave it on during daily drive. Too many dumb people on the road that you may need to swerve to avoid.

That being said, you will avoid a slight traction control bog if there is anything on the track that is slippery, but you will be hard pressed to spin a stock 2.7T in a straight line, there are just to many parts (awd etc) that are being turned for it to spin. Maybe if you you had the K04 turbo upgrade you could break them loose. Keep in mind this car was engineered NOT to spin or drift. That's more BMW territory.

Hope that helps!

You're seriously the dumbest poster since PAM. 12 years ago i wasn't driving my mom's car... it's 2008 and I'm 22, sooooo.... 12 years ago, I was 10. Which means.... even when I was 10, I knew what ESP did, contrary to you and all your glorious "knowledge."

Also, that makes NO sense, "the car has a manual override." If manual override would mean YOU took control of the situation, not the car. If the CAR noticed it, then that means its A U T O M A T I C, not manual.

Tints? Check. Rims? Check. Driving class? Only if you teach it! Cause I would love to learn about all the complicated things you're privy to like... dome lights... and..... winshield washer fluid.... and... floor mats. Wammy is an Audi god!

How many times do I have to own you, seriously?

Yeah man just leave it on. I have done some racing with my 4.2 on dry and wet pavement and the only time the thing comes on is when I am braking in snow and ice. It doesn't do anything unless you are really beating the crap out of your car under normal conditions.

grammar police!!!

your = possessive
you're = you are

aaaaaaaaaand once again just so i'm not running off topic, just leave it on, it's not going to do any harm either way though. all it will do is make the car more stable if something unforeseen happens out on the streets.

Ugh ughm well this is an interesting one. lol. Tha ESP is there to protect you like everyone has said other than tha bashing lmao. Spinning tha tires is almost impossible. Even in rain its hard. If u get tha chance to drive it in tha snow then thats a different story. BUT, only if u turn tha ESP off. I can do doughnuts for days. I took a left turn doing about 40 mph with my friend one day and I managed to get it to drift without snow but then tha ESP corrected it and straightened it for me. It really will save u. It did its job right away.

You're retarded. That's obvious. If you know so much about ESP, then you should know that the fact it can be turned on and off at will means... you can use it whenever you want. Unless the button says "PRESS THIS AND IT WILL SCREW UP YOUR CAR" then you can press it without worry.

But of course, common sense is lost on the WAMMY18coolguywithESPknowledge.

Holy Sh**..that was  waste of 5 minutes. ESP Automatic?? Think about it. The button is there for a reason. I can speak for 4.2 owners - you turn that off and you can spin em for days. ESP on and it will never break loose. Off is off and on is on. There is no "Oh ****" override - at least for '00 - '03...Snow is the only safe place to have fun. Everything else is too hard on the drivetrain and will cause issues.
