I just got my timing belt project done. I left the shop and on the way home the coolant level light went on. I got home and it is extremely low, like way under the minimum, and the shop people are already gone.Can I drive on this for a little? I have to go back to the shop on Tuesday. Between now and then I will drive about 15 miles. Should I just add water for the time being?

Distilled water until you take it in, unless your certain of what your running in there. If it's pink, most likely G12, but you don't want to mix coolants. Get it checked asap, the most common place it could be leaking is the rear coolant flange, check under your car and see if its wet behind the motor...

The level was low anyway, but was even lower when I left the shop. It is pink and I'm assuming it is G12. I don't think the previous owner ever changed it, beings it was low when I bought it two weeks ago. Should it be totally flushed, or can I just add coolant beings it already low?

They probably just didn't get all the air out, when the thermostat opens the coolant level will drop significantly, so if they didn't leave the engine running with the cap off it could just be the engine "burped" as we like to say. Just top it off and see if it goes down again.

yha you should get it check asap i my coolant was leaking and i took it in and $745.50 i had to replace my whole radiator. it was leaking coolant from that part not the flange

It's not leaking, but the diluted water isn't doing the trick. The car is running extremely rough and there is an odd sound coming from where the timing belt work was done. I have to get it towed back to them.

Isn't draining the coolant and refilling it part of the timing belt process? I noticed some kits came with coolant. The mechanic could of atleast told me I was that low and I would have been happy to have them fill it, instead of this problem.
