Default Buying 2002 a4 NEED ADVICE

I can pick up a 2002 a4 1.8 turbo quattro for 11,000 with 95,000 miles (chicago area), the car is in really good shape no accidents, 5-speed too. What do I need to look out for and is that a good price to pay for one of those, it's loaded. Also are any suspension parts interchangeable from a 97 a4 Thanx in advance. Jerry

Yeah, look if the timing belt change has been done/// and other required maintance.
If it is a private seller or even a Dealer, ask them for all the receipts for the car.
Where in Chicago are u?

DesPlaines few minutes north oh O'hare airport. Timing belt wasn't done but I can do that myself not too worried about that, the clutch might be the bigger one, it grabs kind of high so I assume it needs to be done eventually (not slipping ), However I've seen over 7 of these cars and everyone was ether hit or just piece of crap for huge money this is the best deal I found.

I'm from Des Plaines too, closer to Glenview ))
Are u a mechanic or do u have any experience with timing belts? Cause i need to change mine soon.
As for the clutch, when i bought my car, it was grabbing high too, and then after a week it was done ( but i didnt know how to drive manual yet, so i guess i "helped" it ). I think there was a Fuel Pump recallfor 02's. Basically if you know basics, check the car, look at the fluids level, ask how often/what kind of oil was changed, ask what problems it had. Good Luck.

And, you know that often Water Pump goes bad not the timing belt itself.

I'm not a mechanic for a livingbut it's my hobby to fix up cars, I've been doing timing belts since I was 21 or so. It's not hard at all just the time to do it, and I figured something locks up besides the belt just snapping, my fiance's Jetta was pretty close, the water pump fell apart when I did the timing belt.

The fluids lood good there is a clean carfax on it with service records such as oil changes and minor work, no accidens or other surprises. I told the guy 10,500 but he really wants 11,000 so we'll see what happens, it is really a nice car.

the car is dark grey and the 97 a4 that I'm selling is silver. I would definitely be intereted in the drive let me know the dates: if I'm in town I would love to check it out.

TB is pretty cheap it is allot of work and it takes time, whereis the shop?
