Default 06 A8 control panel malfunction

My 06 A8 has a control panel that is all gunked up. The dealer says the MMI is getting a bunch of signals at the same time from the buttons because they are stuck and thats why its malfunctioning. The dealer told me I should replace the control panel for $760, the control panel by itself is $600. I asked if they could just clean it out and unstick the buttons he says they could spend hours doing that with no guarantee that it would work. Anybody have thoughts on other options I might have??? Pls respond as soon as you can.

Default RE: 06 A8 control panel malfunction

Try getting a can of compressed electrical contact cleaner and blasting it out, just don't do it inside the car, take the switch panel out first. Its not that hard to remove either, you just have to un-bolt the a/c control head and ash tray, then the whole sha bang swings out.
