hey guys,
I just bought this car last week. the previous owner put in Piper Cams, which is all and good...but its throwing misfire codes, i just pulled them P0300, 0301, 0302, 0303, 0304....makes 100% sense ... general misfire, then misfire in 1,2,3,4 cyl.
only problem I have with this right now is i need to register this and run it through DE state inspection
my scanner can erase codes, and right after that I try and read again and it reads 0 codes....but I dont know if that will work for the inspection lane.
anyone have any ideas or suggestions to temporarily "override" the CEL status.....some crazy trick that will confuse the ECU or what not
Did you replace all of the coil packs? The 1.8 coil packs were very problematic, I just helped a buddy fix his B6 doing this. A aftermarket cam will not cause a misfire. It will produce a lumpy/lopey idle because it makes the engine create less vacuum. A cam will not set of a CEL. Switch around the number 2 coil to the number 1 cyl, and the 4 to the 3, and see if it moved the CEL to those cylinders. This will let you know these coils are bad. Matt

I could not imagine how the cams would cause a misfire, but I cannot be 100% positive either. I have had cammed up 4 cyls, and never had issues. How is the timing on the cams? I am not sure how it could affect anything, but worth a shot. I am not sure if Audis have Cam Angle Sensors so.....
