Default What are they called?

What is the actual name of the part that pushes the headlight wash nozzles up? Will any other models (A4, A6, etc...) interchange with an 98 A8, and are the left and right the same?

They are actually the nozzles themselves with an integrated deploymentmechanism. I don't know if they are interchangeable between models, but there is a left and right. They aren't cheap either ~$160ish.

This is a terrible idea that will not end well. You know when someone named Reckless_Kelly is your voice of reason and safety, something is amiss.

Thanks, that what I figured. What about different year A8's, 97-99? And do they only come as a complete unit or can you get the cylinder seperate?

UPDATE!---I finally broke down and decided to buy a used set of headlight washer cylinders with nozzles off of ebay for $40. They were off of an A4 B5 but the cylinders looked the same. Well whadaya know? They worked! I just pulled the nozzles off and swapped in my A8 nozzles and now I can wow and amaze my friends as I foolishly pump washer fluid all over the front of my car on nice sunny days. After all, how many friends do you have that want to stand in front of your car at night, in the rain, just to see those things pop up? Anyway, since I've gone this far, I'm wondering if the B5 covers will work with the B5 nozzles on my A8 bumper so that I can have that "stealth" look???
