Hey Smaw, welcome to the forum!

Judging by your H reg comment, I'm going to assume you're in the UK.
Since I'm in the states, I need to clarify a couple of things...
Is it auto or manual?
Does it have any mods?
What's the mileage and what was the most recent maintenance?

If you bought this used and don't know if the timing belt was replaced, then do so. I'd get the fuel pump and filter done, too. I'd also check the plugs. Are there any oil leaks? Get a vacuum test done for any pressure leaks, too.

As I'm not quite familiar with the 1990 Audi 80, I don't know if it has an MAF. If it does, I'd definitely have it checked and/or replaced.

MAF = Mass Air Flow (sensor)

If your car has one, it is located somewhere along the intake between the air filter and the intake manifold.
