I'm toying with the idead of turboing my 1995 audi 90 v6.  I know there's a supercharger but I don't have 5 grand.  What I do have is an extra turbo of an evo from my last project (I turbo'd a 96 civic, guess what it was still slow) and I work in a shop where I have all the tools I could ever need to fabricate exhaust components and what not.

So besides the turbo, oil lines, fuel managment system, custom exhaust work, intercooler and piping, and turbo to manifold adapters (custom made),  what do I need?

thnx

I am not sure how strong the stong engine is, so I wont comment on that.
Turbocharging is a better, high power solution over SC.
You will need everything you mentioned, as well as bypass valves, more fuel (I think you mentioned that) and a good tune. It is not that hard to do. A good tune is the most important thing. I would get a wideband 02 and gauge.

The engine's really strong, it only has 118,000 miles.  The only problem I've had with it is that the starter went bad but I guess that happens alot with these cars.

I was thinking about doing the turbo like a buick Grand national.  Flip the passenger's side manifold around and put the turbo up front (where the stock airbox would usually go)

The one thing I am having trouble thinking about is how to run the oil lines.  The Turbo is a DSM Small 16g. It has a gravity drain oil return.  I know I could T the feed line off the oil sender unit like I did with my honda.  But as far as the return line goes I don't know where I would tap into the oil pan or if I should run the return some other way.   Any ideas?

Tap into the oil filter housing is a good source.
DSM 16G is a damn good turbo.
Keep the boost low, it is hard to say how beefy the internals are.

I was playing around with my sketch stuff and I came up with this rough of what I was thinking about.  I was reading that when boosted you should dial the boost to about 11.5 psi.  What do you think?

11.5 psi with a better pump and AFPR sounds safe to me. Get a wideband or datalogger and log IDC (injector duty cycles) or AF ratio. Do not get just the narrowband gauge, they are about as useful as tits on a male dog.

I'm thinking I will need to custom fabricate a manifold from scratch, still not a big deal.  Tapping in to the oil filter housing for a feed is a great idea.  But I don't know where to run the return line.  I'm guessing the upper oil pan but I've also heard of people running line directly to the oil pump.

I was thinking about my civic and I remembered when I first boosted it, it had problems oveloading the MAP sensor.  I fixed that with a special piece.  Do you think this engine would be okay with out one?  I don't even know if this engine has a MAP sensor or where it is.  I know it has an MAF...

Get a 3 or 5 bar map sensor, problem solved.
About the return, I am honestly not too sure to be honest.
