Problem at the Pump... - 4/8/2008 9:40:54 PM    burak   Posts: 18 Joined: 4/8/2008 Status: offline I have recently bought a 1999 A6 and when i bought the car and brought it GA i had to get an emissions test in order to transfer the title. Well when i got the test the system showed up with an error; the numbers are: P0441, P1136, P1138, P0455. One other problem i realized was when i went to refill the tank i had a problem starting it and had to push the gas peddle to get it starting. Then out of curiosity turned the car off to try it again and see if it starts and with no problem it started and didn't do it again until the next time i got gas. Can it be related? anyone please Post #: 1

I would appreciate if anyone could tell us where to start looking for the problem, what could be a suspect for the code. About the problem with pushing the pedal when starting. Maybe it isnt getting enough fuel or air because of a leak (P0455?) Maybe the starter is bad or dirty? I dont know just putting it out there as a guess. How many miles are on the car? Make sure the gas cap is on tight -- or get a new one. I had the same symptoms.  the good thing is that its fairly "easy" to do if your mechanically inclined.  The pump is underneath the back seat... and if it ever doesnt start, take the back seat off and tap on it, should come on, but R&R it right away just my experience though (in reply to NH_USA) Post #: 8

The part cost $140 and the leak was a rotten hose so happy that it is fixed and it got rid of the problem starting after pumping gas. thank a lot hope this post helps someone in the future! To find the hose with the leak you should try to turn the car and listen for a hissing sound. Most likely the hose is rotten and is falling apart so it is best to change them all. I also changed a Evap part but i am not sure what it is acutally called the part is like 140$ and it is under a cover on the passenger side of under the hood. (in reply to saturnee) Post #: 12

I put some tape around it for now but I don't know were I could buy this hose. Its just under the Pressure Control Valve or Pressure Limiting Valve for those familiar with it. Its on the top right driver side under the cover. Kinda looks like a DV but isn't. As I said above I have P1136 & P1138. RE: Problem at the Pump... - 4/26/2008 12:27:32 AM    burak   Posts: 18 Joined: 4/8/2008 Status: offline definitely! that is most likely the problem! you can purchase the hose at any auto part store but i suggest to buy it from audi and change it yourself. I saw my mechanic change it and it was not hard at all make sure you measure the hoses right and change them as you go! dont take them off at the sam time or else you will probalbly be screwed! Most likely they are all going to rip eventually so just change them all. After you change them drive for about a tanks worth of gas and then vag-com the car and make sure the codes are gone.
