Koni Coil Overs Installed... Pics

Well, I got my Koni Coilovers installed and I must say I am thrilled with the results.

I have done the install on a B5 Passat in the past and I can tell you the A3 is much tougher!!!! Do not attemp unless you have the right tools and a good lift/jack. Again, I'm pretty handy and I ended up using my friend's shop to do the fronts and it still took about 4.5 hours, just for the fronts. The rear is actually pretty easy and I did that at home :)

Anyway, I'm loving the results!!! One of the more satisfying things is that even with the car set quite low, I can still enter driveways and go over speedbumps without scraping like I had on my previous lowered cars.... The ride is stiff, but compliantand the handling is awesome!!!

Hope this feedback is worthwhile for someone here.

Thanks

........... Okay, internet connection at work sucks, so I'll post the pics from home tonight!

Mine is set right in the middle and my car sits very low as well. I have scrapped the front up quite a bit as well unfortunately, so be careful!

Cheers!

I hear ya Chef!!!! So far so good, keeping my fingers crossed that I don't need to raise it at all:)

As you can see, I need to adjust the rear up or the front slightly down to get it perfectly level.

Here are the pics......

Yours looks a bit higher than mine??? Do you have it adjusted to the top?

Cheers!

Where is a good place to get those coilovers? TireRack has the koni "threaded suspension kit" for $1134.. >.< That's expensive, isnt it?

I got mine through www.fourseasontuning.com for $980. That was one of the better prices I found and since they are local for me I didn't have to pay extra for shipping.

Chef,

To me its lower in person than it looks in the pics, but I would say I have the perches about 1/3 of the way down, measuring from the top... I had the S-Line suspension already which was quite low in the rear, but considerably higher in the front... So I have lowered the front more than the rear. That was part of the reason I spent a couple hundred extra for the coil overs from a cup kit, last thing I wanted was to spend $700 - 800 on a cup kit and have it not sit quite level... That's just a major pet pieve of mine...... I have been tweeking a little at a time to get it perfect :)

hey reefer, I'm planning to get the Koni coilovers too and I have the S line suspension. Any regrets? coz right now I like the handling of the car I just want it lowered.

grrrrrrr,

It is a little stiffer than the standard S-Line suspension. If your main objective is a lower ride height, butyou would likesimilar comfort you may want to try an Eibach/Koni FSD cup kit or something similar. Keep in mind that the suspension has to be stiffer when the ride height is reduced to prevent the car from bottoming out, so most suspension kits will be stiffer than stock. Having said that, it was very important to me that the car is still comfortable on the highway, and to me it is. I definitely think this Koni kit is the best bang for the buck..... For me, definitely no regrets! the fact that its adjustable gives you a lot of extra peace of mind in my opinion. If you bring the perches to the top, the ride height is almost back to stock level, yet at the bottom the car is slammed :)
