Default TPMS 2008 A3

Winter is still a long way off, but I am checking into winter time wheels. I know that the 2008 A3's have a full on TPMS, how would the car reacted to not have TPMS equipped wheels on the car? I am sure it would warn me that the system was low or not working. Does anyone know if this can be disabled or turned off?

The owners manual only has info about re-syncing the TPMS with pressing the button in the car, not other info is mentioned that i could find.

Call a technician at TireRack, they've researched this issue to the "nines" and can give you chapter and verse what your options are.

FWIW, I just took a look at their site and see that they offer a full 4-Wheel TPMS set for aftermarket wheels for $220.00 for the A3. That might be your best bet. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/TPMSS...ModClar=S-Line

I do know it can be turned off. But to do so its a VAG-COM procedure I do believe your dealer will shut it off since its not considered a safety feature, unless that changed this year with the DOT
