Was wondering aout a 2.8 v6 conversion to a 1.8 t motor... what would all need to be done besides the swap itself??

why not just sell the 2.8 and buy a 1.8T?

if only there was a smiley that was slapping its forehead, i think we would make good use of it here. Sell the 2.8 and buy another A4 with the engine you so desire.

If you really want to do the swap you basically are going to need the following

Engine
ECU
ALL the wiring
Mounts
New Tranny unless you want the 2.8 gears in there (yes they are different)
...more stuff I don't know about

basically, it is not a cheap swap (kinda like swapping a 2.7t into the A4 also) which is why we all just say, sell the car ad get a new one with a 1.8t in it already and save yourself the headache

Keep the 2.8 Trans if you are going to BT the 1.8T engine as it's quite a common up grade for the BT boys.

If you can pick up the whole car for that money then this will be quite a cheap swap as it will have all the parts you need and you will need the clocks too (you may be able to code in your depending on year). You will only have issues if trying to mate none face lift with face lift as the looms changed somewhat.

You will need SMIC (or upgrade to FMIC) suspension (again you can upgrade) think the sub frame is different because the intercooler pipes are integrated in to it but an upgrade to FMIC will get round this.

Oh and you will need the exhaust too.

this has been discussed plenty, yes it can be done, no the cost is not worth it, a normal 2.8 30v is worth 5-7k for a ggood example to convert it, you need and engien(900-2300), ecu(50-400), harness($?), and labour which will usually run about 2-5k so overall just sell it and get a 1.8t, then that money you where going to use on the engine use it for a chip, and BT kit.

OR, save the labor and do it yourself.
Hell, even if you dont know how to fab, or dont have acsess to do so... You could buy the parts to do it. Go to a junkyard, (unfortunely we see them often here) and get the swap parts needed. You could do this for under 2500 including your motor, if you know how to turn a wrench.
