Default rebuilt transmissions?

Well I think the reverse in my transmission is shot and was wondering even if I found a good shop to do it is a rebuild on my transmission going to be reliableand worth it.

it would be cheaper if you just got a used one from a lower mileage car and just swapped them. rebuilding it should be fine though

did reverse start slipping before it finally went out? and all forward gears still work right? I had the same happen to me in my Auto Impreza I first noticed when I had to back up a slight hill to get to the gas pump It was like a worn out clutch.. I wonder after I got rid of the car was it the bands in the tranny.. I swore to myself I'd never own another automatic car ever.

Default RE: rebuilt transmissions?

I just put a rebuilt trans in mine like 2 months ago. It shifts like it's brand new, I am really happy with it. I found a place that did it for 1800 roughly....

it didnt even slip or begin to grind gears... worked perfectly one day. got up in the morning pull out for school (I reverse in when i park), got to school good, went to class then just decided to go to the bank during my break and the car wouldnt reverse. It kind of showed signs like it would be the TR switch but not sure. My regular shop said it was a shot transmission but they didnt even move the car. So I'm checking out a few transmission shops this weekend. For now I'm beating it out in the families 97 mazda millenia (now thats a car with no reliability and $$ parts lol yet its running and mine aint... oh well).
