Audi AG has created a microsite for its long-awaited Audi Q5 Release date for their new compact crossover. The Audi Q5 release is slated for April 19 on the eve of the 2008 Beijing Auto Show. The Audi Q5 release will be launched via Audi TV at 6:00 AM Beijing time. As the days tick away and the world awaits the official Audi Q5 release, one has to wonder why Beijing? The Audi Q5 release could have happened at the Detroit International Auto Show, where the automobile world comes to tell the world what they are offering. The Audi Q5 Release could have happened at the New York International Auto Show, the media capital of the world. The Audi Q5 release could have happened at the Geneva International Auto Show, Europe’s answer to Detroit. I ask again, why is the Audi Q5 Release happening in Beijing? For the past 6 months, there has been much speculation written about the Audi Q5. There have been many Audi Q5 photos and Audi Q5 videos taken from spies. Yet there has been very little about the Audi Q5 from Audi executives. What do we know about the Audi Q5 release? The most glaring thing I have read was that initial production of the Audi Q5 will take place in INGOLSTADT, Germany, with future production taking place in China. Well, why would we want to know that? We know the Audi quality control from Germany is quite possibly the best in the world for any car manufacturer. Knowing that, why China?
