Please help with codes 0491 and 0492
 

Hi,

CEL just came on this morning. Had it scanned and it's calling out 0491 and 0492 (Secondary air systems banks 1 and 2). Can someone please tell me what the codes are referring to? I have the car for sale so I need to fix it now and correctly.

1. Check the fuse for the secondary air pump. Not sure which one, so check them all.

2. Check vacuum lines. It may be hard to even find a leak, so you may want to start replacing them.

Thanks for the link...I found the exact problem on my car as described, all I needed was a new length of vacuum hose- but now how do I get the CEL to shut off? Do I need a special tool to reset it?

If everything is fine, the CEL will go out by itself if there are 3 "healthy" starts, meaning if everything checks out fine the ECU will turn it off.
