Hi there, im new to this forum and thanks for taking the time to read my post. I have a 1999 A4 1.8T Quattro. Well here's my problem. i was driving home from work the car was fine, parked it then came back out 5 minutes later to take off and the engine starts shuttering and lose of power, then engine lights starts to blink. Now, i've done a check for the coil packs by dissconnecting 1 coil at a time while the engine is running and the only one that didnt make the engine do anything was cylinder #3. so then i proceeded to switch the #2 coil pack with the #3 coil pack and still my cylinder #3 wasnt firing and my #2 cylinder was fine which means my coil packs are still good right? so then i did the same with the spark plugs and still #3 cylinder not firing and #2 still ok. Any ideas as to what this could be and what i could possibly be looking at? again thanks for reading this and any help is greatly appreciated.

Could be an injector problem - if the coils and plugs are all firing, but you're not getting any fuel in that cylinder, it'll still be a misfire.  I'd check that out and see if it's your problem.

Did you pull the diagnostic fault code to see what the problem is? If the check engine light is on then the car has stored a code that will tell you what is wrong with it. This certainly beats guessing at the problem. Go to a shop and have them pull the code for you. Some places do this for free in an attempt to sell you their services to fix the thing.
