Default A quick question...99 vs. 99.5 A4s

I recently traded in my 98 VW Jetta K2 for a 99 A4 2.8 Quattro. I went out with the intention of buying another VW, but once I took out the A4...what fun. The fact that the A4 only had 26k miles on it helped.

I've been looking around at different Audi sites and I keep seeing references for 99.5 and 99 A4s. How can I tell if I have one vs. the other. Sorry if this is a bad question, I just have no clue how to tell. I assume it's in the VIN...but I haven't been able to find a good site to decipher those for Audi's.

Thanks for the help.

Default A quick question...99 vs. 99.5 A4s

Im not sure if 99.5s are really 2000s or not. I'm assuming a 99.5 has the production date of 7/99+, and usually the later months of '99 are called 2000s. That aside I was lookin on Ebay and comparing. Here is a 99 (or at least they claim it is, you never know): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6003#mainImage

another example:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...;category=6003

Notice, the 2 piece headlights, the rear tail lights and the position of the clear lens(second from top of tail light), the rear badges are on the top of the rear. Notice on teh second one, the climate controls as compared to the 99.5

here is a suspected 99.5: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...;category=6003

If someone can check my descriptions, I'd appreciate it. These might be the diffs b/w 98.5s and 99s.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

I haven't looked at the back of my car to compare it to the three you posted, but the climate controls on the one you suspect might be a 99.5 is exactly what I have in my A4...eventhe cup holder on the dash above the stereo. However, the badging on the back is different. Mine has A4, 2.8, and Quattro on the back and the one you believe is the 99.5 doesn't have anything. Is this just a difference between the 1.8T and 2.8?

Again, sorry if some of these questions are bad...I'm new to the Audi world.

Thanks.

Default A quick question...99 vs. 99.5 A4s

Thanks for the help with the examples of the cars. From the looks of it (but I've been wrong before), I think I did get a 99.5. My car matches the car in this link exactly: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...;category=6003. Which, if I'm not mistaken, BoostedA4 believes this to be a 99.5.

...and of course I kept the skis! And the Ski rack...but I think we're going to try and see if that fits on my wife's VW Jetta 1.8T. I doubt it will though. The body styles are pretty different.

Thanks again for the help.

What kind of K2s came with the Jetta? Good ones?
