Default What is (was) the best engine Audi build

My choice would be :

2,3L 20V

TFSI has little history to be judged upon

2.7T...I've 102 K and the original turbos are going strong. Timing belt lasted over 100K. Trannies, now that;s another subject.

I had 2 5000s with the 10V 2.3, they run forever, then people did the valves/ rings and they ran another 100k miles ( didn't have any power , but bullit-proof ).

2.2t 10v or 20v are EASILY the best engines audi ever built. No competition really, these things are bulletproof. I'm sitting at 171k miles right now and it runs just as well as 20k miles. Audi's biggest mistake to date was selling the 5 cylinder to volvo

VW 2,5 is 5 cylinder?

Back to the basics?

The S4 (body of 100/A6) with 2,3 20V had 225 hp !

With a manual it was something!
