hello everyone.

today got an audi a6 1997 from my dad. the car is in perfect condition except for 1 thing...
sometimes when i start the car the lights dont work and the turn signals dont want to blink also. to make them work i have to start the car all over until they begin to work. anyone got any ideas what can be the issue? funny why dad didnt try to fix the problem, since he had the car for a long time :)

Check your fuses. if thats ok then try your blinker relay switch

I doubt if it is a fuse ---

I suspect somethying in the ignition switch or a relay. When you turn the switch off Audi's automatically turn off the headlights but leave the parking lights on. If the circuit that tells the car you have turned off the ignition is gettin  gintermittent contact the headlights lights will not come on.

Sounds like a relay to me as well.  I know all of those relays are under the dash in my car, theres 4 bolts holding that panel on

I would also check the battery condition as only a fully charged battery will allow the finicky electronics and electricl components on the Audi to function properly.
Check for water level in all 3 elements, and check for voltage while cranking the engine.  How old is your battery anyway?  The date it was put in service should be on the label.
