I went to pump some gas at around 5 a.m. this morning. Im trying to beat the gas prices, heard its a handy little trick to pump gas while it is cool. And as I pulled in I saw some dude fidling with the gas price board. So I thought, finally maybe the price dropped. Down here in Miami gas sumped around 15 cents, from 3.45 per gal to about 355-3.60. Then he place the last two digits on the sign and it was like BAM! 3.70! I likerally felt like crying. I don't know whats going on, but im a college student. And this spike in price is killing me. That jumps my average weekly gas costs to about 85 dollars.
So how about you guys?

One the many reasons I ride my beemer to work is the nice gas mileage (35-45 MPG, depending on my mood and my desire for killing bugs on my windshield LOL).
Factor in the fun factor and the fact that California allows for lane splitting and you'll find a happy camper inside my helmet!
A tankful now costs just a tad over $20 and gives me over 200 miles of clogged California highways and city streets!

I saw it on newspaper the other day saying oil price (not gasoline) gonna drop to $50 per barrel compare to $150 recently by 2015...I find that highly suspicious and i just hope my $85 a tank can last more then 2 weeks...

Exxon reported their largest profits EVER today for the 1st quarter.  These prices are killing them too apparently.

I drive to campus, to work, and to my girlfriends house which is about 30 minutes away from home. Include your average errond runs and other things that cause you to hope into the driver seat and I can burn through a full tank in 5 days. You would expect Miami to be a city that heavily uses public transportation like N.Y. but it doesn't. Not to mention housing down here blows balls. Between the rise in food and gas prices I literally think my income outways my costs by about 10 bucks.

Supply, demand, speculation, international politics mean that this depletion of resources will continue. Even nuclear power is plaged by radioactive wastes and not enough fuel. Science fiction is more fantasy. It costs about $20 million to go the international space station. How much will it cost to go to a Mars with a 1% atmosphere and no water? So, it would take trillions of dollars to go past Mars for a oneway trip to "nowhere".
For now, all you could do is to check your brake calipers to see if they drag. If they do drag, then try replacing the caliper boots and seals. Try replacing the brake rotors if they are badly worn. ATF needs to be changed. Next, try a motorcycle. If that doesn't work, then try a bicycle for local trips.
When gas cost 25 cents a gallon, the dollar was worth more, so there were still unhappy people who wanted free energy.

Yeah, how many of us use V-Power.... I will pass up any station for Shell. Its not horrible here only $3.50 for Premium, but I belive it will be at about 3.70 by the end of the month! Its misrable, when I first bought the car a full fill-up was $40 with change to buy a Gatorade. Now its like **** I need more money! I find myself going on a lot less joy rides.

I was at the Mazda dealer tonight test driving a Mazda3 wagon.  It was really nice and a lot of fun to drive, especially when you consider it gets 33mpg (reported on mazda forums).  Compare that to Jonah (my A6 Avant 2.8) who is a gas whore at ~22mpg.   I really think I might ditch the A6 for the Mazda3.  I really like the A6 but I spend 108.00 dollars more a month to drive the A6 then I would to drive the Mazda3.  Thats over 1200.00 a year in extra gas.  But then again, 108.00 a month to drive a luxury european car is the price you have to pay I guess...(for me)

The price of fuel will continue to rise as the masses in China, India and Russia join the "civilised" world on wheels. Blame it on the govenrment or big oil if you feel the need to place blame, but remember that you have a choice and you have chosen to drive a car and so has everyone else in the world! Then, do your mathematical calculations and you will find that the money spent to buy a fuel efficient car or motorcycle is never recovered by the fuel savings!

Costco gas pump is around $3.48 for premium in DC suburb. Not bad but since the gas tank is almost 20 gallons...it hurts to get gas in my car.

I agree with the first part of your post but never recovering your costs buying fuel efficient car makes no sense.

If I were to sell my paid off A6 for 7k and buy a 7k dollar Toyota Corolla.  Every month I save 108.00 in gas.  So how have I not saved money buying a fuel efficient car?  If I buy a Mazda3 for 11k, it will take 2.5 years to start saving money.  But I still will save money.  Plus you get a newer car with far lower maintenance costs and lower depreciation.

I think most of us bought an Audi for the fun factor and not to save money.  In fact owning an Audi is NOT a recommended way to economize...
Fun or Savings?  Your choice!!!

Okay...  Gas just spiked to $3.69 a gallon (FOR REGULAR!!) here in Grand Rapids, MI.  That's gotta put premium at... $3.99 or $4??

When I started driving, premium was .99!!

What were gas prices when everyone else started driving?!
