Default ESP -Again!

Hi there,

Just back from Audi today...caught a break and had some problem-solving done by Audi's head of maintenance for Asia visiting from Germany. Nice guy with lots of advice. (He noticed my car was chipped before we even left the dealer, but he didn't do anything about it nor tell the dealer...so cool in my books.) He did not however discover the chip (superchips TDI through the VAG-Com. He asked me if I had chipped it, and I was very reluctant to say anything. When I didn't say much, he said, "don't worry, nothing came up on the VAG-COM so there are no warranty issues, he was just curious to see what it was.) So, it does seem to be true that Superchip (aside from the awesome and obvious performance gains!) is stealthy!

One thing that Heinz did do for me was install a dampener in my OS between the front and back sunroofs....totally fixed all the noise issues I had with the roof. Though of course he did try to blame the noise on my modded-suspension, but he was totally cool with doing it under warranty, but seemed anxious to point out it was not a quality issue. When we did the test drive together, he did remark however, that he felt the suspension was just right and not harsh....so finally agreed it was a manufacturing issue, not a mod issue!

Anyhow, the reason for the maintenance was:
When my car was new, the ESP light fault light would light up periodically. Audi replaced the controller under the seat. Afterwards, it was much better, but would still go off periodically. So now, Audi is going to replace the ABS unit inside the engine compartment. (just in front of the firewall on the passengers side.

Has anyone else heard of A3s with these kinds of problems? The ABS unit is on order from Germany and should be in by the end of the month. Audi told me they will need 2 full days to change out the unit because it is connected to the brake lines. So they need time to drain out the fluid and wait, because if the fluid is replaced too early, it may bubble and cause safety issues. Is this true?

Grrr...love my car...hopefully these gremlins are resolved.
