Hi there, I'm new here obviously. I recently totalled my Trans Am swerving to miss a Jaywalker the other night[:@], and have decided now that I have done the fast car gig, I'd like to move to the luxury car gig. I'm pretty much sold on the A6, and as a V8 enthusiast am attracted to the 4.2. So I've read about it some, and have done a search here, but still have a few questions. The car I am currently looking at is a 01 4.2 with 93k miles on the clock, but it has supposedly been dealer maintained all it's life. The price is $11,900, probably able to knock a grand off haggling, but does that sound fair? I've come to the conclusion that it is regarded as a more reliable engine than the 2.7t thanks to it's lack of turbos. And my desire to leave it stock. However, do the same timing belt/water pump replacement reccommendations apply to this engine as they do to the 2.7? Also as a whole, the 4.2 model came with different exterior stylings such as different fenders and bumpers, but did the interior change at all? And last question I think would be that 91k miles shouldn't be too bad for a car if it was dealer maintained, and well kept correct? I mean I've driven my past 2 V8 cars over 150k with no major problems other than a little oil burning, can I expect to get decent results out of this engine?
