Get a 3M clay bar, not the liquid clay bar product. This will not only remove oxidation it will remove any and all clear coat contaminants. Just use caution when using! Make sure the surface is wet and you will be fine. If the surface is dry you will rub through the clear, which is obiviously a bad thing. You can use it on all metal painted surfaces, glass (winshield), plastic, and whatever else you can think of.

It's a detailer's secret weapon!

If the oxidation is severe, a clay bar will clear it up but not completely. The end result will be wet sanding and polishing with Meguires PlastX.

OOOO

i ended up just wet sanding it with 1200 grit and then i put a clear coat on the headlights so it wouldnt happen again

You will find that you will have to polish your headlights regularly. I use PlastX on my headlights everytime I wax my car. I wax my car 4 times a year. It really helps keep the lens clear, clean and removes oxidation, bugs, etc.....

wondering if too much waxing is bad for your car or no? Like once every 2 months.

Washing is likely to do more damage.

None of the polishing techniques last it will come back unless you keep up with it like joeski says. The best way is to sand plastic prep and clear them unfortunatley the only way to get a quality job is to pull the light out and do them. Then you can tint them a little too.
