Left side windowlifts not working

Hey,

I have a problem with both my left windowlifts on my 5-door -00 A3. They don't work. First I thought there was some contact that was messed up so I started to open up the controls on the drivers door but then as I clicked the switch (drivers door) I could hear a slight click from the door, same with the back door. I wasnt really prepared for dissassembling the door so I gave up for now.

Have any of you run into this before?

I'm probably taking it apart tomorrow but some pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Ok guess it was just jammed, opened up the back door first and removed the lift, gave the mechanics some wd-40 lovin' and tada it's ok, yay me.. did same thing to drivers door and got it working

BUT

when I raise the window to the top it goes down like 2 inches and makes a rasping noise (trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrra). I've read somewhere that it's a classic, just have to find it

Your gears could be shot? I've only heard of the little motors failing...

My right passenger rear only goes up/down for the duration the switch is active. Press the switch the window goes down. Let up from the switch the window stops. Therefore, the individual window has noone-touch up orone-touch down.

Meh. It works. Just not like the others.....

Can it just be that I assembled it wrong? I mean do I have to do anything when I put it back together or is it some automatic thing that "knows" when the window is up top? Maybe a stupid question ;)

I'm gonna reopen the door tomorrow to check gears, I was a bit pissed last time so I gave up. Took a bit longer then I thought, hadnt eaten, stupid neighbours bothering me etc etc :)
