 my car is a 2001 a6 2.8

my question is this, when i fill up my gas tank almost every time the gas light comes on( the gas pump icon ). i also noticed that when im on the highway crusing the gas gauge will be at full then all of a sudden it starts to flutter, from empty back to full and any where in between. i was thinking that the ball or float in the gas tank was getting stuck some where but wasn't sure if my car has this in the tank so i dont know what to do.

the next question is how in the hell do you reset the service light for the oil changes and stuff. i recently changed my oil but i can reset the service light. thanks in advance everyone.

For the service light look on your owner's manual and it will tell you how to reset it...or you can use a vag-com. I have the same car and i followed the instruction from the manual but it didnt work for some reason   (maybe you'll have better luck)...I just ordered a vag-com cable so as soon as i get i will try this.

had that issue on my 98 A6 there was a TB issued on the faulty gas guage. the dealership fixed at no charge. you may want to check on recalls and TB's.
