Oil change every 10k....

According the the owners manual the fist oil change is a t 5 k than 15k, 25..etc. At 10k my oil inidcator came on. I added Moble 1 to get the level back up. I know turbos create a lot of heat thus consume a little more oil than a regular car. I called audi to see if i should have brought it at 10k and they said to wait unitll 15k which is what im doing. I've heard that sysnthetic oil lubricates better as it ages. How often do you guys change it?

I have a hard time believing that. I recommend that you at least change your oil every 5k max with synthetic. The oil gets old and prevents your engine from properly lubricating your engine.
Usually your scheduled maintenances are covered at 5k, 15, 25k, 35k and 45k. But for your2007Audi if you "Didn't" purchase the maintenance package. Your gonna have to pay for your scheduled maintenances out-of-pocket.[:o] The first 5k service is covered, but not the rest.[:@]

i change it every 5000 miles. the owners manual lists the maintenance milestones but it doesn't mention anything about oil changes between those milestones.

I strongly agree AudiTech. The problem is not that the oil loses its lubricating ability or viscosity due to age, but in a turbo car there is a significant increase in oil blow by which causes the oil to get "dirty" a lot faster. Dirty oil is not a good lubricant and all the particulates can damage engines and turbos. Hell on my last turbo car I changed the oil every 2500 miles so I have a hard time waiting for 5k miles.

I change my oil every 5k. What sucks is that I live in a condo complex where working on cars isn't allowed. I hate paying to have my oil changed.

I have a lease and the maintenance package. The service department told me to just bring it in every 5k and they would check it out for free. because I am following the scheduled maintenance i can not be held liable for any damage.

If you leased it and aren't planning on buying after the lease is over then don't bother. If you own it or are planning on owning it then do it every 5K.

i just bought a used 2005.5 2.0Tq which has ~42k on it. obviouslyi should take it to the dealership for the 45k service and oil change, but i was wondering how i could check to see how often it was changed before i bought it. thanks

don't bother to change the oil if you don't plan on buying it? that's why there are lemons out there.

RE: Oil change every 10k....

I'm in a similiar situation with close to 13k miles. The last oil change
was during the 5k scheduled maintenance. I went by the maintenance manual
and didn't change the oil after that. Should have opened the hood and checked
it myself around 10K.

Surprisingly my oil indicator hasn't turned on so far, which probably
doesn't mean much. And haven't seen much change in the performance
or mileage inspite of this. Too early to tell?

Think I won't wait for 15K, will have it changed the first thing. Makes more
sense considering my driving pattern(kind that presses lot on the gas starting
from signals, and I drive in the city mostly).
