Default trunk lock too complicated for simple mind

Anybody care to provide "dumb guy instructions" on opening the trunk in an A4? It's a 2001 sedan with remote locks. I usually manage to get it open after about 5 minutes of locking/unlocking the doors (I think I even rolled down/up the windows at one point). Maybe it's a test and I shouldn't be driving without the skills required to open the trunk

well there are a couple different ways. unlcok your whole car, then push the key thingy on the trunk and push up. or you can stick the key in, turn the unlock way and push in and push up.

just make sure all of your doors are unlocked, not just your drivers door. Then you should be able to simply push in the trunk button to open the trunk.

There isn't a trunk button on the remote? There is on mine.

here are the comands for the trunk key on a 96 A4

unlock entire car with drivers door or remote
or
(All with key in trunk lock itself)
turn key to left and push in, should open trunk but not unlock anything at all
turn key to the left twice, unlocks entire car including trunk
turn key right, locks car.

I think those are the right combo's (I haven't used my car in a bit and it's all my routine for me now anyway, but hopefully it'll help a bit)

thanks to all. I never even thought of just pushing the button in and trying to open...I was always using the key. I was pushing the button in and then turning, that was my problem I suspect. I've got no trunk button on the remote, and I only got one key when I got the car. Another one is "in the mail" I guess. So with the trunk button, does the trunk open all by itself? I noticed it appears to have some sort of cylinder setup.

think of the trunk just like a fifth door. when you unlock the doors it also unlocks the trunk and then you push the button on the trunk just like you would pull the door handle. you have to unlock all the doors to unluck the trunk, not just the drivers door

Wow, I gave the key to my 8 year old cousin and asked her to get my tennis racket out of my trunk and she didn't have a problem with it. Haha, just playin with you man, a new car can be tricky to figure out.
