marnikrebs -> Rattling Sunroof? (5/1/2008 5:37:53 PM)

Hi all, We bought a 2007 3.6 Premium in January from a dealer in the States. Roughly 12,000 miles on it, as it was a dealer loaner. Since then, its been back at the dealer in Ottawa, Canada, for a steering column replacement (3 weeks time in the shop) and a coil issue (2 days). While repairing the coil issue, we discussed with the dealer the fact that our "panorama" sunroof continually rattles (loudly) when closed. We were told they'd look into it. When we picked up the car, we were told that this was an "extremely common and known issue" with the Audi Q7, and there is no way of fixing it. We then got the line that "Maybe in future models, they'll put some felt on the track or something...". Anyhow, after having had our Q7 in the shop for longer than it had been with us since buying (given the first incident), we accepted this. Since then, however, the rattling has worsened, to the point of distraction. We don't feel this is acceptable for a $60K+ car (or any newer car, for that matter). Additionally, we did a bit of internet research, and based on our results, this is certainly not an "extremely common" issue. So... has anyone here experienced this? Any ideas as to remedy? It seems simple enough -- the sunroof is not leaking, it just simply rattles every time we go over a bump. Not sure why the dealer is so hesitant to fix this, perhaps they are tired of us given our Q7 already spent 3 weeks there waiting for a steering column to arrive from Germany. And one final question -- the engine knocking and oil pressure issues I've read about on this forum have occured once. Since then, no issues upon startup. Do you feel this is just an indicator of further engine issues to come, and we should just go for a replacement? We have a "first run" Q7 that was manufactured in August 2006... Thanks much, glad to find this forum!
