Hey guys, I just got a C5 A6. 2.8L engine, and want to put some money into it. Straight up I'm going to tell you guys, I'm by no means a mechanic, so if my questions seems a little unedcated, well, thats because they are. But I have friends who are great with cars, so if it did come to installing stuff I could probably ask for some help. I'm wondering what are some possible upgrades to this car, that WOULDN'T cost a fortune? Like cold air intake, new ECU, that kind of stuff. I've also been contemplating NOS or something like this http://www.boosthead.com/product.php .I've also seen turbochargers on ebay for pretty cheap, and I'm wondering what all I'd need to do to the engine/what parts I'd need to fit them on? (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-A3-A4-A6-TT-K04-K-04-Upgrade-Turbo-Charger_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ024QQitemZ370047163001QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW for example) or slightly more affordable, maybe and E-Ram Supercharger (way less expensive probably) but I'm skeptical as to what kind of performance I'd get out of one.
I forgot to mention that its a automatic with Titptronic, so no short shifter kits.
Any links or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
ALSO : don't tell me to sell it and buy a 2.7t version. I know that it would be easier, but up here there damn expensive, and I got this car for a very good price.

Unfortunately, like any other car, there isn't any cheap upgrade for a drastic power change.

HOWEVER!  there is an easy bolt on kit for the 2.8.  The supercharger kit is easy to install but it does cost $5 thousand.  If it comes between trading for the 2.7t or the supercharger I would personally go for the supercharger simply for the reliability.

sorry for the double post, but with that supercharger lets say 450hp on the A6, its still a pretty big car. What would top speed (limiter removed) and acceleration be like?

With a supercharger on the 2.8 you will only get 295-300 hp. As it is lighter than a 4.2, which has a limiter at 155mph, I guess you could be looking at slightly above that, but I wouldn't guess by much.

No clue as to the top speed  (I'd never hit it anyway) but the accelleration will be better than the 4.2 v8 as it is still lighter.  I'd say it would be comparable if not a little better than an unmodified 2.7T because of the instant boost and slightly better hp figures (295hp vs 270hp)
