Default How long should my brakes last?

My wife has a 2007 A4 CVT with 12500 miles on it. at the last service apointment I asked them to check the brakes becuase they were begining to squel. he said I had 6mm front and 7mm rear left on my pads, and that I should be getting ready to replace them. 12500 seems kinda premature for a brake job. What do you guys/gals think? I have a Nissan Frontier with 24k on it and still have the original brakes.

Just got mine done a week ago. At 16k. Get it done at the 15k service or youll end up gettin the shaft from audi, trust me.

do you mean to have them do them while they are servicing the car? will there be a price break? The quoted me $500. or would it be easier to do them my self?

yea. so my brake light came on around 14,5xx miles. I disregarded it for some time (in hindsight, retarded). Brought it in around 15,8xx miles for the service and aparently the front rotors had to be replaced. I was half asleep and didnt wanna rebutle it or actually inquire what it was all about but I'd assume it to be the sensor on the brake pad damaged the rotors (go audi). 650$ later it was all taken care of.

I dont think the brakes are covered under warranty, but if they are telling you 500 id probably just do it, only cause theres no way in hell your going to want to do it yourself. Very touchy brake system from what ive heard. Sensors, specialty tools for the job. Good times fun.

Squeeky brakes arent cool, tend to that.
