Default BOSE + Aftermarket headunit?

I've been looking at putting an aftermarket headunit in my car, mostly to have better ipod capability and an updated NAV system. I have the bose radio. Crutchfield tells me I have to bypass the amp and run new wires to all speakers. That would mean rip the entire console/doorpanels/rear interior panels out? This sounds like much more trouble than it's worth. anyone here done it? Simply plugging in the harness won't work?

2002 1.8 TT BTW (225QC)

opinion/suggestions?

Default RE: BOSE + Aftermarket headunit?

You dont need to do all of that. All you need is a amplified harness kit and a power wire ran from the fuse box. I bought my harness kit and dash kit from Ebay for about $40.
