ok so one of my friends has a 2001 s4 and wants to put the rs4 turbos on it and my friend who has the 2.7t keeps saying not to get them and to just leave the original turbos on because he says the s4 is made for s4 turbos and thinks it will just ruin the engine alot faster than if he didnt upgrade but hes always against chips and turbos because "they just ruin your engine in about 10,000 to 15,000 miles he says" is any of this true or is he just a idiot

well, i will help you out but if you read the FAQ in the s4 forums this will tell you everything you need to know, a chip up the boost and the curve of the a/f mixture so you get about 70hp and 80 tq for max figures with a really agressive profile.  well if you just drive the car normal and race once and a great while at WOT (wide open ).  your turbos will go when they want too go, also normal mantance is a must of course and just upkeep.  valve gaskets tend to go as do o2 sensers, you jst need to be ready to spend the money for what comes up and learn to wrench, cause it is ALOT cheaper in the long run.  Also make sure your t belt is done.

Your friend probably is thinking of someone running too much boost for their fuel system to handle, which means a lean-burn condition that can take out the engine.  The chips are programmed to work with specific injectors and are calibrated for a specific amount of boost, an amount known to be acceptable for the fuel system in use.  Unless the guy with the S4 is also a moron and cranks the boost way beyond the chip's calibration and the capability of the fuel system, he'll be fine.

no the guy with the s4 isnt going to up the boost on the turbos just below the chips recomended boost rating its just the kid with the a6 2.7t thinks that even if you put one on and leave it stock its gonna blow your engine basically cause thats what his dad told but hes an idiot and just basically believes and repeats anything his dad says

Then you're dead-on in your assessment.  He's an idiot.  Tell him to try this moron thing some of us do - it's called "thinking".  Maybe if he tries to form his own opinion here and there, the idea will catch on.  Oh, and his dad's a moron too:)

haha ya i tried to convince him today that the rs4 turbos will not mess up the engine and he was like ive told you so many times why it would mess it up and still wont beleive i guess cause he thinks their a little bigger turbos then the s4 so i dono is there any reason why this wouldnt happen if it was just the turbos without the chip for it not to blow or break parts on the engine

dont worry about him at all, jsut say if you say so, then it must be true and roll your eyes.  or say really then why do so many people do a k04 swap and run low 12's or high 11's and never have any problems.  but you must be right cause just like the internet it is NEVER wrong.
