Default Brake Pads

Hi!

I have a 2007 Audi A4. Went to the dealership and they told me I need new front brake pads. They said if I go much longer, I'll need new roters too.

They said it would be $410, but then I got a 10% discount...which was $380 or so.

Is this a good deal?

Is this something I can do at a Firestone or Autozone or something? I've never taken my Audi anywhere else but the dealership.

Please help!

Thanks!

Natalie

Default RE: Brake Pads

Service advisors are generally bullshit artists, I know because I used to be a dealership technician. Although I'm sure he's right to say you need front pads, (he can't legally lie to you, although not to say it doesn't happen) he isn't giving you 10% off - he's jacking the price up and then saying he's giving you 10% off as a sales tactic. $380 for a front pad slap is too much, it takes 15 minutes at most to do with a lift, and I am sure they are charging you at least 1.0-1.5 hours labor. Not to mention the huge markup on parts from the dealership.

Find a good independant or even take it to Firestone or something like that. Just be wary they will try to sell you more bullshit, so just get the brakes done. It shouldn't really matter where you take it, its pretty hard to screw up a pad slap. Just shop around for prices.

A good set of ceramic/regular front padsshould only cost $60-100ish and are easy to change. That price is way too high, for that price you could do the a8 front brake kit with new rotors, pads and carriers.
