Default Bluetooth / LG Phone Pairing Problems

When I first got my 2007 A6 (quattro, MMI v 33.6.0), my LGVX8350 paired easily, then worked perfectly for 3 months. Now, with no car or phone sw changes, it takes 2 or 3 PIN entries every time I start the car to get a pairing. After that, it works.

Now I have to go thru something like:

Me: Start Car
LG: "Pairing request from Audi UHV 1682 Accept Yes/No"
Me: Yes
LG: "Paired successfully" (Yeah, right)
LG: "Improper Pairing" (or something like that)
Me: Launch pairing thru BT menu
LG: "Pairing request...

Eventually they'll pair after 2 or 3 PIN entries and "Accepts" of silly requests.

I go thru this every time I get in the car (when it worked, I didn't have to do this)

I've done MMI resets, deleted BT entries from car, from phone. I've been to the Audi dealer and they said it was the phone (they got something to work, I guess). I've been to Verizon and tried 4 other phones (none work correctly, so far).

Any ideas what might have changed that would cause this to quit working? This worked SO great for 3 months, now it doesn't.

Thanks in advance.
