I recently added K04 turbos to my 2001.5 S4. Everything went smooth and worked just fine. I wanted to take it to the next level and finish the swap. I bought the Fuel kit from AWE-Tuning. My Mechanic installed everything but the car won't start. To cut things short we unplugged the MAF sensor. The car started right up. We said ok maybe the Hitachi MAF sensor is bad right!!! Wrong, Still no Luck. We called AWE and they said you computer must be bad then. To me it seems like the ecu is just fine because it runs perfect without the MAF sensor connected. The other thing is that the computer had an apr chip and I wonder if something was set in the computer from the apr chip? Could the chip have a pin not connected and still work? I am just about out of Ideas.  All Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response. I checked the O ring and it seems fine. Whenever I plug the MAF sensor in the car runs really rich. One of the errors I was getting originally was 18011 P1603 Internal sporatic: Control module : checksum error. I have not recieved that since I put the chip though. that error was when I had the APR chick installed. The mechanic ran the test twice and this is what came out.

Code001:
                16486 P0102 Mass air flow circuit-G7 0: low input

Code002:
                16622 P0238 Turbo Super charger boost sensor (A) circuit:high

Code003:
16490 P0106 Manifold sporadic: absolute Pressure Barometric pressure circuit-G71/- F96: range performance

The second time it came up like this

Code001:
00778 Steering angle sender –G85    Sporadic compens. Not carried out

Code002:
                01044 Control unit incorrectly coded

Code003:
18265 P1857 Load signal: error message from engine control unit      sporadic:

I think one was with the maf disconnected and one with it connected.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Do you get the ECU errors with each of the 2
chips installed?

Thank you for the reply.

These code I got before the chip install too.

Code001:
00778 Steering angle sender –G85    Sporadic compens. Not carried out

Code002:
                01044 Control unit incorrectly coded

Code003:
18265 P1857 Load signal: error message from engine control unit      sporadic:

these I got before the chipinstall but I don't recieve them now. keep in mind that the codes below was when I had the K04 turbo's installed but had the chip for the smaller k03 turbos.

Code001:
       16487 P0103 Mass air flow circuit-G7 0: high input

Code002:
17547 P1139 Bank 2 sporatic: mixture adaptation (add) : system too rich

Code003:
17545 P1137 Bank 1 sporadic:  mixture adaptation (add) : system too rich

Code004:
18011 P1603 Internal Sporadic:  Control Module Memory: Checksum error

I just don't want to buy an new ecu have it chipped again and have the same problem. I am sure you know what I mean. I am going to try and find someone with an ecu part number ending in M. to try and see if it is the ecu before I go out and spend a fortune on one. If anyone is willing I will pay them to test with the ecu. I live in NJ.

Thanks,

Chris
