Default Caliper bolt cap stuck, '99n

I am new at replacing front rotors and pads. I used a pliers to tug on the caliper bolt rubber cap and it would not disengage. I also tried to pry one end with a screw driver and tug at the same time with no success. I am afraid that if I apply too much force the cap will tear.

Is there a certain technique to remove the rubber caliper bolt cap? Any thoughts?

Hold on, you don't have to remove those rubber caps. They are just dust caps. There are two big bolts on the back of the caliper that hold it on. I think they are 18 or 19mm. A breaker bar or a long handled wrench or ratchet will help out a lot. I have a 2000 2.7. I'm not sure if your car is the same, but I don't think you have to remove those rubber caps. Good Luck.

You need to get the Audi CD manual from Bentleypublishing.com, whereyou will find the correct bolt torques, etc. for your brakes. Of couse you could try autozone.com, for free instructions or for paid online instructions.

No need to remove those rubber seals, only take the bolts behind them off and the caliper will come off.
