just get some oem replacement rotors from brembo or zimmerman and then some pads from hawk, ebc, pbr, or mintex and you will be good.  These pads will have better braking and less dust also

It has been discussed so many times now, you would help yourself searching here :)))
I was in the same boat, i bought slotted PowerSlot rear rotors and slotted Brembo Front ones + HAWKS street perfromance pads.
I spent i think about $450 on that.
U can go ahead and get even bigger brakes for you car buying b5 s4 brakes. There are a lot of guys/girls selling those.
There is a good sale on AZ http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186185

If you're not a spirited or agressive driver, stick with oem and get better parts.  Your best gain will come from good pads.  If you want to keep teh front brake sensor setup, Hawk HPS is a well respected opinion.  Low dust and good bite.  As far as rotors go, you'll be fine with plain but you may want to spring for drilled/slotted for aesthetic reasons.  I went with just plain zimmermans.  Lastly, good brake fluid will help.  You're supposed to change it every two years because it absorbs moisture, which makes it compressible and reduces effectiveness.  Try to get a fluid with the highest wet/dry boilign point you can.  I went with ATE regular, which I think is called gold.  don't get ATE superblue, as some VW and B5 owners swear it causes issues.  The gold has same properties just without the blue dye.  Motul also makes great fluid but the RBF will probably have to be changed annually and it isn't worth it.  If you do motul, get the 5.1.  finally, look into stainless steel lines if you want to make the most of your stock brake setup.

If you find your stock brakes suck for your driving style, go BBK.

i have another question but more about the break wear on the stock rotors. I just got an use 05 a4 with 42k on it and just before i bought it they replaced the stock rotors with new stock rotors and pads all around. First of all, i am wondering why the rear rotors on A13Art car wore quicker than the front as i know the front do the majority of the stopping. Second of all, i am wondering how long my new rotors should last as well as the stock pads.

They could have just been nice and replaced the brakes because your new car was still within your 50k free service period.  It could be the rotors were warped slightly and not necessarily worn.  Lastly, our EPS system does brake individual wheels to maintain control while driving.  I think the rear brakes are worked more than we notice.  That could be why they were replaced.  Without knowing more, I would like to think my first sentence is the correct reason.

We have heavy cars and undersized front brakes.  I have no experience with how long the brakes will last.  I bought my car certifeid used at 45k and it had aftermarket pads in the front and stock in the rear.  I guess that means the fronts were replaced once already and the rears were not.  I replaced all at 63k.  Based on that experience, and that my aftermarket fronts had lots of meat on them when removed, maybe 30k-35k on the fronts and 1.5x to 2x as long on the rears?  My rears were potato chips when they came off.

well in that case seein as all of mine are stock pads would you figure that i should replace them before 25k-30k as they arent going to last as long as aftermarket pads or should they still last about as long

I just edited my post above because I realized I had plenty o fmeat on my aftermarket fronts when I took them off at 63k.  Since I bought mine used, I have no idea if the previous owner took them off early in favor of better performing aftermarket pads or because they were shot.  Based on that, I'm revising my guess (and it is a guess) to 35k+ on the front OEM pads.

Also, if you're OEM in the front, you have a wear sensor that will light u pyour dash when the breaks get too low.  You don't have to think about them until ti comes on.  The rears don't have a sensor but it's no big deal.  You can eyeball the front or the rears to tell if they have gotten too thin.
