Default service insp light and emissions

Hey everybody. I went to get my emissions test a while ago and failed because they couldn't sync with my ecu. Anybody know if my "service insp" light is the reason. If so what can I do about it and know any trusted Chicagoland Audi repair shops? I own an 1997 A4 2.8 quattro

Default RE: service insp light and emissions

Hey everybody. I had an audi dealer run a diagnostic check here in Chicago and I'm looking at his summary. I'll put it down here.

SCAN FOR CODES. COMMUNICATION WITH ECM NOT POSSIBLE. TRY OTHER CONTROL MODULES. NO COMMUNICATION. CHECK FUSE TO DATA LINK CONNECTOR. OK. CAR HAS AFTERMARKET RADIO. FACTORY RADIO IS PART OF DIAGNOSTIC CIRCLE. DISCONNECT RADIO. STILL NO COMMUNICATION. CHECK WIRING. FOUND AFTERMARKET WIRES SPLICED INTO CAN BUS WIRES. WHICH IS PROVIDING A SHORT TO GROUND FOR CAN BUS SINALS. ALSO FACTORY AUDIO SYSTEM HAS NUMEROUS WIRES CUT AND SPLICED INTO. WILL NEED MORE DIAG TIME TO DIAG AND REPAIR ALL THE WIRES THAT HAVE BEEN CUT AND SPLICED TO RESTORE COMMUNICATION TO ALL CONTROL MODULES. CUSTOMER DECLINED REPAIR AT THIS TIME.

I'm still not sure where I can get this repaired if the audi dealer refused to fix it. I'm not sure if the people who installed my aftermarket stereo can fix it because they were pretty shady to begin with. Thanks in advanced.
