Easiest way to check pressure and tbb integrety for chip prep
Hey, as I mentioned in another post I am getting the giac chip for my 2000 tip. I figured it would be a good idea to do some preventitive maintenance in preparation. Is there an easy way to make sure I have no boost leaks and everything is kosher? Also this is a stupid qeustion but where exactly is the throttlebody boot located and what should I look for to make sure it is prepared for extra boost? Any other specific things to check?

pressure test it! :)
tbb is under the front engine cover. |

also simply look for weather cracks, if there are no wear or cut marks around the clamps the thing is just not gonna fail all at once.

Is there an easy way to pressure test the system (escpecially if I'm not looking for a particular leak and everything "should" be fine. I searched but does anyone know an easy way to do it or have a link?

Dont bother pressure testing, just buy a 48 dollat silicone tbb. 034motorsports.com

I just figured that would check for any other potential boost leaks or weak points in the engine.

just do a pressure test. takes like 30 minutes total, dont just replace the TBB. all my leaks have been at other points away from the TBB. my TBB is still fine.

great link blue s4. This raises another question, if I use this method, and there are no leaks, is there any way to tell? Or if I just don't hear any air escaping, do I just assume that there are no leaks? Do you understand what I mean, because I'm not trying to find where a particular leak is, just trying to find any problems before I up the boost.

i have never done it myself, but from what i have heard since the system is air tight, if there are any leaks in the system at all the pressure guage will drop when you turn the compressed air source off. please correct me if im wrong.
