View Full Version : A burn out in an Audi?
yesss4 05-12-2008, 03:40 PM Okay so I saw Iron Man this weekend. Cool flick. Go watch it and count the Audis in it - they must have paid some serious cash for all that product placement.
So there's a scene where the main character takes off in a hurry with his R8 and it shows a dark patch where he layed down some rubber. I'm thinking, "Pssh, so phony. You can't do that in an Audi." Supersonic flight in a metal suit - okay I'll buy that.
washyourrhands 05-12-2008, 03:43 PM no ive seen videos where stage 3 b5s have burned rubber
meatbiscuit 05-12-2008, 03:53 PM seen a few vids of B5s getting rubber (I think one of them was jaybquick's), check out youtube, there used to be a few on there.
sweeds4 05-12-2008, 03:56 PM I'll try it sometime with theESP off :D
yesss4 05-12-2008, 04:01 PM All 4 wheels? That'd be something to see. I guess you can disable/override the ESP better on manuals than with the tip. Only time I've been able to do anything to get the wheels spinning is in the dirt.
sooks 05-12-2008, 04:58 PM Try searching through google or youtube for verruct...or verruckt...spelling?? he has some of him def getting loose....
When i was at the dragstrip i was definately getting the back end loose, so yes you can lose rubber..and on the r8, with mid engine and a 56% rear end bias in weight, would be easier
audi ops 05-12-2008, 06:37 PM I dropped from 4k once and only once, I had about 1' of rubber on the ground behind all four wheels, however it was more so on the front two.
sweeds4 05-12-2008, 08:10 PM I just did a launch and when I shifted from 1st to 2nd the car lost traction a little. Was in ESP tho! [:@]. Prob would have been better with it off!
02AvantImola 05-12-2008, 08:44 PM Yes there are videos of K04 cars catching some Rubber, I know my boys at vast have sent me a few videos of thier customers cars doing that.
Blue_S4 05-12-2008, 10:51 PM i have witnessed the R8 lay some rubber. dont forget, its not at all like the s4. it can only send a max of 20% power to the front, so the majority is on the rear. so if you had the manual, and you drop it from like 4 or 5 grand, you wont have trouble leaving your mark.
yesss4 05-12-2008, 11:52 PM Okay okay you've convinced me. Pretty funny that this guy has more money that God and he picks the R8. But actually fromwhat I've read it wouldn't be a bad choice - it has the supercar look andwould be doable as an every-day car, versus others that are faster and more exotic but not as comfortable.
I like that Audi puts some marketing dollars into putting cars in movies (like Iron Man and I Robot). Gives our cars an added "cool" factor.
washyourrhands 05-13-2008, 12:08 AM dont forget hitman
sooks 05-13-2008, 02:18 AM Or the transporter....or ronin
SchlafwagenS4 05-13-2008, 08:01 AM yeah I agree I think the increased Audi promos in movies and the superbowl ad are definatelyhelping toraise the cool factor and brand awareness of audi.
Scott Long 05-13-2008, 08:34 PM Yeah there is an S5 in Hitman.
I like the fact the car in I-Robot was verythe protoype R8. I'll have to go see Iron Man. My old man says it is good.
skunkoncrunk 05-14-2008, 02:47 AM There was also an RS4 Cab in Hitman.

JohnnyS4 05-16-2008, 06:42 PM OK am i the only one that saw the title of this thread that thought he was talking about someone in an audi that has smoked way to much pot. LOL.
