Hit a pretty nasty pothole today.  Had to throw the winter wheels back on.  Going to get a new one but the ASA AR2s are backordered until June 28th.

Ryan's not lowered....YET.  But anything 17" and bigger are much easier the damage.  Some wheel places will sell you a warrenty for such occasions.

Ouch! At least it was only the wheel that got damaged.

Holy crub batman. A good wheel shop MIGHT be able to take out that bend. Don't try and bend it yourself though whatever you do.

BTW ryan, what's the ET and width of your wheels? I saw you used 20mm and 25mm spacers, I just ordered a set of 15's and 20's for 8.5" wheels ET35, kinda wonderign what the stance will be like (should be flush/little poke in rear).

Going 35mph and the hole was pretty deep.  It was wide too so there wasn't a chance I was going to be able to swerve and miss it.  I was following a huge SUV and didn't see it coming.  Oh well.

The wheel held air until I backed it down the driveway into the street to swap the winter wheels back on.  I'm amazed it lasted until I got home.

The ASA AR2s are 18x8 w/ 35 offset.  20 and 25 put them exactly flush.

Holy balls! that's bad!  I've never even bent mine, and I hit some holes where i'm 100% positive it should have tacoed my wheel

In Ny you can file a claim with the city for repairs, I suggest you look into it.

You might not get anything, but it's worth a try.
If nothing else they will put a little effort into patching the pothole.

I hit a bad one recently but the tire sidewall broke and didn't damage the wheel at all.  It was a rainy night and the hole was filled with water so I didn't see it at all.  It was a slightly cheaper mistake.  I feel your pain though...

So are the ASAs lightweight? I was wondering if that's one disadvantage of lightweight rims, not very knowledgeable about that.

The other day I was sitting at a light in a right hand turn lane and watched as cars going to the left kept hitting a puddle which filled a big pot hole, one right after the other hit it, they looked like lemmings going off a cliff.

But is that because the tire is bad or the rim was to messed up to allow the tire to hold air?

Its all based on the materials and how they are made.

holy crap... that at 35 mph? wow. In Wisconsin pot holes are the worst. Snow plows litterally rip holes. Plus constant changes in tempature between 0 degrees and 80 degress asphult makes the road the worst. It must have been over 4.5 inches deep to do that, at that speed. Dont waste your time fileing with the city. You wont get anything. So far I have hit some at 75 mph and my cheepo rims from tirerack.com held up

ps. I feel your pain... I have two cracked fat fives.

No it was new clutch money. :(

Here is the real effed up part.  I ordered the new wheel from Tire Rack and even though it wont be in until June 27/28 they charged my account.

Thats some BS taking payment over a month in advance.

I was thinking about getting AR2s, do you have any pics prior to the pot hole damage?

thanks in advance.

take a picture of your rim and the pothole you hit...the city you live is required to pick up 50% of the tab (being that 50% of the damage is your fault for not avoiding the crater)

(speaking from experience in Chicago)
