All of the A6 models came with subwoofers regardless of bose located in the trunk. You know you have a bose system if it says "Bose" on all of the interior speaker grills. As to where the amp is located i'd assume inside or near the subwoofer which is located on the right side panel of the trunk.

O ya? So I don't have Bose then .. And people were sayin its on the driver side in the drunk.. Man Made me buss some clips for nothing , I'm gonna have a look on the right side today and see whats happening, so since I don't have Bose should I change the speakers ?

ok listen ... easy if your speakers say bose then you have a bose system if they dont then you have a regualr facotry system

truth be told the bose speakers sound liek crap if you take away teh bose stock headunit ... teh amp is located on the passenger side in front of the sub yet behind the back seat on teh passenger side in the truck ... u ripped the lining off the wrong side lol if you dont have a bose then simply wire the amp and subs right to the factory head unit or if you bought a new head unit (which is a good idea for subs neway) ... if you have the bose you cant put your subs and amp into the headunit you need to tap power and sound in the truck BUT BEFORE the amp not after the amp

it is not as hard as everyone makes it seem although i just did trial and error my first time!

let me knwo if you have any problems ill try to walk you through it but you seem like you know what your doing ...

o yea and be sure to run RCAs and your amp power from battery down diff sides of teh car if you do have the bose bc you will experience a small amount of feedback when your A/C is on and you accelerate

Yes that is the sub and amp,the amp is inside right near the sub, which is just a small amplifier that powers both the rear speakers and the subwoofer. You can't really do much with the factory amp so if you wish to upgrade you will need to get another amplifer to power the subwoofer.

i think he already knew that he was just wondering how to hookit up

Well I just took mine apart and took a peek inside to see where everything is, then added some insulation...now everything just rattles even more. And he did ask "Is this the sub or amp?" So I just wanted to clarify things up a bit.

Thanks joe and Asianicestyles for clearing that up.

What if I got a rns-e ? It shouldn't be any different right? And after market speakers would sound way better than the factory right?

here u got ... http://www.metacafe.com/watch/444044/audi_navigation_rns_e_installation/ i love the music in the background LOL

yea if you are eliminating the bose head unit with bose speakers then get new speakers all around some nice 3 ways

if you have the plain old symphony the speakers shoudl be replaced anyways

topj
05-18-2008, 01:21 PM
yea I'll change my speakers than, what size can I fit in they?

And what I ment to say when hooking up a amp to a rnse it should be the same as hooking it to the head unit? Cause I'm thinking bout getting one

joetm
05-18-2008, 05:06 PM
id say like 5 1/4 in the front ... see what you can fit in there

i didnt have to replace my speakres i left the bose

joetm
05-18-2008, 05:15 PM
also about the amp i have no clue ... there are better units then the rnse out there i have the pionner avic d3 and i love it

topj
05-18-2008, 10:34 PM
and the pioneer avic d3 is better? really? i unno i guess im just being bias lol, the rns-e Looks better but yea pioneer is one of the big boys in the buisness

joetm
05-19-2008, 11:31 AM
no no im not sayin that model is better i meant there are better systems out there ... i liek the avicd3 it think i t has nice features and its simple yet nice ... and you cant beat the price.

the rnse is very nice but always explore all options

do I need the audio keys to take out the head unit ?

joetm
05-21-2008, 09:33 AM
audio keys??

you need your radio code and also you need the audi radio removal tool ... there are 4 of them you can get away with 2 but 4 is easier and they are cheap anyway

topj
05-21-2008, 11:19 AM
Yea thats what I was talking about ( typo) so when I hook up my amp to the head unit I'll need a code?

joetm
05-21-2008, 12:03 PM
you will need the codes when u remove the radio and take the power cable out ... after you hook teh amp up and "energize" the radio you will put the code in to regain functionality

topj
05-21-2008, 03:27 PM
How would I put in the code ? With vag? And where can I find the code ? And is there any other way to take out the radio without the remov tools?

joetm
05-21-2008, 04:14 PM
code is in the manual and you type it in the radio ... you need the tools ... ive heard ppl using metal files etc but you run the risk of 1- cosmetically damaging the face of the radio and 2- damaging the pieces inside that slit that grab the tool and then youll really be screwed if you do that bc the tool wont even work lol

the tool is 10bucks

you could take a dremel and cut it out lol that what i did in my a4 bc i was an idiot and couldnt figure out how to get it out haha and then put a dash kit over it but it looked tacky

id recommend the tool

topj
05-21-2008, 04:40 PM
ooo yea i found the code, yea im gonna see if i can buy them off ebay now i gotta wait :( lol

so the symphony II has rca outputs? or do i gotta do some tapping?

joetm
05-21-2008, 05:13 PM
not sure about symphoney 2 ... i tapped speaker wires before the bose amp and used one of those little rca converter box things for my bose

topj
05-21-2008, 08:23 PM
well i guess ill see when i get my audi removal tools

topj

I talked to my friend today that works at best buy and he was sayin that they do stock installs all the time, but they add a "leveler"? no idea what that is, but im guessing its because theres no rca outlets on stocks. If im wrong someone correct me
