1998 c4 A6??? Do they exist? I have one.
Hello all, I'm new to both these forums, and to Audi. I have previously owned a bmw m3, and am looking forward to trying something different.
I recently purchased two Audis (his and hers) a 1997 Audi A4 2.8 quatro, and a 1998 a6 2.8 quatro. Heres the thing though... the a6 is a c4. After purchasing the car, I tried to do some homework so that I could learn more about it. When I was looking at the different models, it occured to me that something wasn't quite right. Every resource I've looked at says that in 1997 the c4 a6 became the c5 (newer model).
The car was sold to me as a 98 a6. Obviously, after reading this, the first thing that popped up in my head is that I got ripped off. So I ran out to the car to verify that it was indeed a 97, only to find that actually, it is a 98. Right on the owners manual, it says in big bold letters "1998 Audi A6" with a big picture of a c4 a6 on the cover...
So my question to you all is, what is going on? lol. Is almost every resource I've looked at flat out wrong, or do I have some wierd/rare 98 c4 a6?
The car by the way is in pristine condition. It's bright red with every option available (at least I think so). Another interesting thing is, this car has pretty sweet looking, mint condition factory chrome rims. I've yet to see them on any other a6.
Since I just bought the car yesterday, I dont have pictures yet. I'll be glad to supply them tomorrow.
Also, I think I got a pretty sweet deal on both the a4 and the a6. I got the a6 for $3900 (138k miles, fresh 120k service with timing belt yada yada, all options included) and the a4 I got for $2300. It has a few little cosmetic things it needs and has 175k, but is overall, in great shape.
I'm looking forward to making the best with these cars. I'm sure you all will be seeing more of me.
Any insight as to how I've got a 98 c4 a6 would be great!!!
thanks guys,
-Alex
