Default car whining!

Hey wassup guys? Good news... I got my transmission problem fixed (was the tr switch). Only one thing left and its the whining my car is making (remember i ran through a flooded road). It whines when the car is first turned on really bad and it gets less noisy as the car is on for awhile. It makes the car sound old. One of my friend suggested that it was the alternator.
Anyone seconds that or have any other suggestions?

Lift up the hood and see if you can tell where it is coming from. Could be belt, idler wheel, fan clutch, etc.

Have you supercharger your car lately? [:-]

Your alternator can get wet w/o having any side effects

sorry for the long time to reply guys. The noise is coming from the front by the pulleys and belt. The fans are good. Reason i thought it to be the alternator is because it made the noise the day after i ran through the flood waters (yes i know stupid idea) and my friend did the same thing once and said his was the alternator (he has same car just a 1.8t).

And thanks again guys. The reason i ask here before i take it into the shops is because you guys just might know the ideal culprits of a problem more than a guy who doesnt work on audis (like with my transmission... i would have changed that for no reason).
