I have been looking thru this forum for a few months now (a great site by the way) and I have finally decided to make the first steps necessary to purchase a Audi A4 (B6 Platform). I have mostly begun searching the web to see what I can find out there for a reasonable price and I have found a car that I like. I have obtained a copy of the carfax and I would love for the community to dissect it they find an potential problems based on this carfax. I understand that I'm going to need a mechanic to look at the car and that a carfax cannot 100% tell if a car is going to be good or bad. Thanks in advance. Feel free to let me know what you think!

How come at the end of Owner 2 it says it was sold twice at an auction with in 14 days. I'm no pro but the carfax looks clean and like it was mantained when it needed to be. Probably needs the timing belt/water pump job since the last reported mileage was 63k. Do you have any pictures, price or description of the car?

I have pictures and the car listed isat $12,500. They actually just dropped the price by $1000 (probably because its been on the lot for a while). I hear that dealers generally sell and trade between each other at auctions so I could possibly be a dealer brought the car and sold it for a profit two weeks later. I'll be sure to ask when I contact them. My concerns are with the things that got serviced (brake rotors, brake pads, etc...) Are these normally parts that get replaced so early on in a cars life? If anyone else has an opinion on this please comment.

Ya the car looks clean. The ownership changes by owner two are just the car being transfered back to audi USA from the lease company. Then Audi actioning it off at a private dealers auction. I bought my car the same way. The carfax report looked the same. Be prepared to do the coil packs if they havent been done yet. Mine were luckly done under warrenty during the lease!! Good price htough. I paid 18k for mine with 68000 Km on it.

Not do play devils advocate here but you could get a 2002+ for a similar price which means it would be a B6 (newer body style [also my favorite body style]).
Don't get me wrong, $12k for an Audi with low miles is great but I've found a couple of 2002-2004 A4's here in Sacramento for 10-13k$.
Matter of fact, after weeks of searching, I purchased my 2002 A4 B6 Sport Package for $7500. It's super clean and while it does have 106k miles, all work has been done plus it had a 100k mile warranty which was utilized to its fullest by the original owner.
