Default blinker stupidity

Just a quick question. My right blinker works fine and stays on when the lights are on but it won't blink when i turn on the turn signal whereas the side and rear lights will. The right blinker also blinks at a much faster rate than the left.

Any ideas? My thought is it might be a relay.

I thinks thats due to the blinker buld being bad or loose. Mine did it last week and I just smacked the housing and whala...it's fixed.

Well i got the bulb replaced so i doubt that it's gone bad. Besides, if it's loose, then why does it light up without fail when the lights are one but just won't blink.

The blinker bulb has 2 filaments in it. One that lights up with the headlights on and one that lights up when you turn the blinker on.

The blinker filament is either broken or the bulb has a bad connection (had one of those many times, caused by oxidation). Soremove the bulb, you'll be able to see if one of the filaments is broken or not, if it is not broken, then your contacts need to be cleaned

The blinker lights will blink faster when one or more bulbs burn out because the total amount of resistance decreases making the relay go faster

If it acts up again, tap on the fender. If it magically works you need the electrical socket the bulb sits in, very common on the B6.

I had two of them go bad between my old 3.0 and my Avant in the space of a year. Yeah, they corrode, but good thing is they are only about $12 to replace and you just pop the headlamp out to change it. If you have a T-30 socket drive all you need is a regular 3/8" long extension and your rachet.

Might also be out of blinker fluid

lol

When one blinks really fast thats usually a sign of a bad bulb, have you pushed the little "Check" button that runs all the little on-car diagnostics? (lights, speedo, etc)

I think my best guess is that it's the socket that the bulb sits in because the bulb itself is only a month old. And i did clean off the contacts but had no luck. Where might be a good place to order the bulb socket and what is it called?

P.S. before i do anything i'll make sure to check the blinker fluid and re-oil my rotator splint.

Yeah, and while your there, give your air intake a good hose down with some dehydrated dihydrogen monoxide, regular dihydrogen monoxide is highly hazardous though, so be careful.

Wondering though, is that "check" button (right side below the speedo one of those 3 buttons) there for looks or does it actually "check" anything?
