Default Non-Dealer alignment on 02 A4 Quattro?

I put new tires on my 2002 A4 3.0 Quattro (6spd) and the tireshop that did it said they couldn't do the algnment because they didn't have the proper tool to adjust the caster. Another tire shop and they said they didnt have the specs to make the proper adjustment. I then went to a firestone and they said they could do it but it wouldnt be complete because they didnt have a proper tool. There was a past thread that delt with this but I'm just looking for some definitiveclarification.
What part of the alginment can't be completed except by dealers? Is the Firestone alignment sufficent to protect my tires and my car? Will there be any significant detriment to the preformance if I get the algnment at Firestone?

Thanks for any light you can help shine on this.

Cheers,
Doug
