Lets play Guess that sound! '01 A6 2.8L AWD

SOUND CLIP ON YOUTUBE You can hear the sound pretty well in the first 14 seconds.

I have 2001 A6 with 75k on it. Tonight was driving home and started hearing what sounded like a part of my car dragging on the ground, got out and looked under the car...nothing.


Sound is still there, it is coming from the upper right side of the car (so passenger side around the motor). Any ideas?


The best sound I can use to describe it is, like something is dragging from the car, it isn't constant, and only happens when he car is moving. Around 40 MPH or faster I can't hear it, but I think that is because other noises knock it out.


Any ideas?
CV joint is the only thing I could think of, my check engine light is on, but that is for something related to emissions, my buddy has the part on order for that.

need new tires????

wheel bearing? Can we get sound clip? Most digital cameras can do that.

My money is on a wheel bearing.

The exhaust gate on the right side of your turbo :-X I heard this noise for about 1 week before i blew my turbos(at 55k miles :-X). I drive the shit out of my ride though so was expected.

I don't have turbo...2.8

If it helps I will get a sound clip. Also, the problem started off not bad at all...now it is worst than ever...


What is the cost of a bearing and is it a DIY???
