Default CPO 2005 A6 issues

Hey gang
I just bought a CPO '06 A6 with all the bells and whistles.
Three things:
1. The transmission seems to act a bit funny at low speeds. When it shifts down to 2nd gear, there's a "clunk". It also seems to have trouble figuring out which gear to start out in.
2. The MMI interface is missing quite a few roads in Hilton Head, SC. We're here on vacation and all that shows up on the map are the two or three main roads.
3. We drove down from DC (10.5 hours), and towards the end, two times the car just died with the cruise set at 80mph. Almost as if we were out of gas (but we weren't).

As soon as we get back home, I'm going to take it in to the dealer and see what they think and what's covered under the CPO warranty.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I'm in store for?

Welcome to the forum.

1. Has the Transmission TSB been performed, which updated the transmission software and changed the transmission fluid to a different type?

2. Which Navteq version are you running? The cars originally came with version 4, version 9 was recently released.

3. Did any of the dashboard lights come on when you experienced the car losing power? If so, I would bet the coilpacks have gone bad. If no dashboard lights, I would better that the fuel filter, which was the subject of a recall, may not have been upgraded.

While I am unfamiliar with the CPO warranty, I am confident that your covered for any mechanical/electrical issues.

Thanks for the quick reply!
1. I have no idea what TSB's have ben addressed so I would guess that would be the issue with the tranny.
2. As far as the Nav version....I looked at the the MMI and got the following:
SW: C6-HU 6360 10.7.0.0437
HW: C6-HU 6360 D2.0
3. The only lights that came on were the check engine and Eco something-a-rather

I think I'll just leave it at the dealer for a while when we get home (if we make it!!!)

You are running MMi software version 10.7. The software has been updated to version 44.1. If you complain about losing the "surround sound" settings, or a "jumping cursor" Audi will upgrade the software to version 33.4, which is a huge improvement for blue tooth connectivity and voice recognition. There are several TSBs on the issue.

The navigation software is another issue. If you look in your trunk andopen the door onthe drivers side you will see aDVD player for the Nav unit. Pop out the disk and you can tell what version it has from reading it off the disc. The current disc reads either "2008/2009" or version 9.

If the check engine light came on when the caracted as though it was going to die, I would guess that it may be the coil packs. I know the coil packs on the 4.2 were the subject of a TSB, I don't know if the 3.2 had the same issue.

When you get back to the dealer ask them to print up a full service history on the car. You can then compare the service history withall of the TSBs that were issued on the car, which can be found at Bentley's website.

Click on

http://ebahn.bentleypublishers.com/AUDI/C/C6/A6/

The click on Technical Service Bulletins and it will give you a brief description of each TSB. If you want to see the full TSB you need to subscribe.

Kevin...Audi will not upgrade to 44.1 unless I buy the 08 interface. They dont have 06 44.1 upgrade out yet.

I dont know if they are just blowing me off or what...hard to prove unless I can show theman 06 with 44.1 version

I know people who have had Audi upgrade their 05s to 44.1. I don't know if they also had to upgrade an interface. However, since the total cost of the MMI upgrade was less than $200, including parts and labor, I don't think it was a very big deal. Personally I have been happy with MMI version 33.4 and did not want to risk anything by making the change.
